Listing Education on Resumes - How to List it First
Listing Education on Resumes - How to List it FirstWhen it comes to listing education on resumes, whether a degree or certificate is listed first is really the biggest question of all. You have to be able to identify which is the right way to list it.If you are listing the actual degree, make sure that it's listed in the upper left hand corner of the resume as well as in the document itself. Remember, that the curriculum vitae in itself can be a problem if it's not presented properly. So make sure that the list includes the actual degree as well as any professional or academic qualifications.Certificates, however, are often listed last, since they don't really imply anything. But since you can't assume that everyone will ask for a certificate, it might be good to make sure that your list of certifications includes everything necessary. That means both degrees and certificates. So, listing degrees first and listing certificates second, especially if it's a combined certificate with an additional degree, is highly recommended.Remember that the focus here is on certifications. Certificates do not necessarily mean that you have a higher degree. They simply certify your experience. So you need to know what your job title or your current position is, in order to determine what kind of certificate to include in your listing. Some people might consider a college education to be worth listing as well. However, I think that college degrees are quite often very vague and not really related to your specific job. Therefore, it would be a much better idea to list it as a professional certification. It doesn't indicate that it's going to make it easier to get the job that you're seeking, but it will help you get the job and go from there. If you want to distinguish between the two, you will need to write itdown. Keep it on paper and write down the following: education, professional certifications, and certifications. List the certifications in the order of their importance and make sure that they are listed in the top left corner of the resume. This is a quick and easy way to categorize your information and also show the reader what you've achieved in the past.Education and professional certifications are something that you should list down on your resume because they're obviously going to help you. It's going to make it easier for you to get the job that you're after. So go ahead and include it in the proper order. The focus here is to get the job and not necessarily to mention it.So, when it comes to listing educational qualifications and professional certifications, always list them in the order that they are listed in your resume. So, that they'll be more visible and easier to see.
